Moody grey palette

Maybe the dark clouds that are about to drench us in rain were what attracted me to these 1950s style photos from photographer Corrie Bond. We have had a week full of Houston sunshine but that quickly disappeared this afternoon. I think it was a bit of a relief for my husband because it meant that he didn’t have to go for his after work run — don’t worry, Jon, I know the feeling :)

These photos actually remind me of the film Revolutionary Road. Similar to the film, some may find this palette depressing. But if you have been a reader here for a little while (thank you) then you may know of my love for grey rooms because they completely calm me, especially when fresh whites are present. The colors that I pulled out from the photographs are actually seen in these rooms below. My favorite of all may just be J Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyon’s bedroom.

We’re visiting family this weekend (hello Erin!) in Austin and we often joke that it always rains whenever we are there. Unfortunately this means that our dogs, Aura (our dog) and Harvey (their dog), track mushy dirt throughout the house. Rain is in the forecast for Saturday but at least it will be a good time to visit the bookstore. I am looking forward to going through my new recommended book list, thanks to all of you.

Enjoy your weekend.
