Kate Towers black dress

Please forgive the quietness around here but it has been one of those weeks. And what a perfect time to be inspired by the story of upcoming Portland designer, Kate Towers. This independent designer is not only self-taught but has launched a one-of-a-kind clothing line while raising a toddler and her store, Seaplane. Each piece is very sculptural, which has likely been the product of hours upon hours of thoughtful experimentation. Take that for some inspiration!

Kate Towers collection

Kate’s view of “clothing as art” has been carried through to the photography as each picture seems to tell a story…but in a very quiet whisper…

It’s time to pack for a quick trip away but I’ll resume regular posting when I return on Wednesday. Until then, enjoy your weekends!

I’m loving your blog! Thanks for stopping over at mine. All interior design and no fashion makes me a cranky girl sometimes, so I’ll have to stop by regularly for my fix! Have a wonderful weekend!

Wow. Yes, very abstract and definitely a beautiful form of art. All these outdoorsy pics makes me wish I were a jet setter somehow. The photography is so beautiful was well!

These are so very beautiful. I would love any of these outfits. I am always very hesitant when buying clothes online as I never know if they will fit or suit me. Everyone else seems to have great success online shopping, but I seem to think things will look good and then they dont… and vise versa. Hmmm a dilema.

amber — I used to fall into the trap of ordering things that I thought would look good. But I have been “blessed” with child-bearing hips (I must be destined to have lots of kids one day!) so now I only order clothes that I know will suit my silhouette. Anything that’s cinched at the waist seems to work.
