Dallas dining rooms

March 20th, 2009 · 32 Comments

Yay, it’s Friday! We’re dining out at Open City tonight (has anyone tried it?) and have a weekend of chores, visit to College Station to see a friend’s baby boy, and probably some laptop hunting as I think mine has officially died. Due to the computer cord situation, I have been working from our dining table the past couple of days, which has actually been a nice change of pace. However I wish our dining room looked liked either of these recently featured in D Magazine.

Interior designer Alice Cottrell's dining room

This room is in the home of interior designer Alice Cottrell. She made the most of her 750 sq ft apartment by actually using large pieces of furniture such as a long sofa with a Ligne Roset table. It gives the impression of a cozy banquette, a feature that I would love in our own dining room one day.

Jaap van Zweden's dining room

And the second dining room belongs to Dallas’s new symphony conductor Jaap van Zweden and his wife, Aaltje, who currently reside in a condo at the Ritz Residences. They brought several modern Dutch paintings and prized possessions with them from Amsterdam but designer Sherry Hayslip largely took care of the rest of the home. The light fixture is incredibly striking while the color palette is moody in this swanky dining room.

Hope you all enjoy your weekends!
