Before seeing Revolutionary Road on Sunday, Paige remarked on the fashion in the film and particularly of Kate Winslet’s gorgeous clothing. After two minutes into the movie I knew exactly what she meant. Costume designer Albert Wolsky’s interpretation of the story through the characters’ clothing was completely spot on. The delicate pastels paired with greys and neutrals contributed to the sombre mood. The film is the complete opposite of a feel-good movie but definitely worth seeing. Warning: You will need a bowl of ice-cream or sloppy kisses from your dog afterward to cheer you up.

We have seen a resurgence of 1950’s fashion lately. Wolsky dressed the stunning Kate Winslet in large floral printed shirts, cinched waist dresses, and sometimes driving gloves. It reminds me of the work of fashion designer, L’Wren Scott, because I feel her collections are a modernized version of the elegant fashion we have seen in the past. Here are some of my favorites from her Spring 2009 Ready-To-Wear collection. Hopefully we will get a peek of L’Wren Scott’s fall line after her reported Fashion Week celebration with Mick Jagger.

Isn’t Kate Winslet looking sensational these days? I thought she deserved to get nominated for an Oscar for her challenging role in Revolutionary Road.
And thanks to all of you for your fashionable films suggestions. I might turn this into a series here on the blog but first we will revisit the decor in a movie that I have been planning to cover for a long time. Stay tuned for a Double Take feature on Monday! Have a great weekend.

Kate Winslet was amazing in this film. And what an amazing film anyway! It made me thankful for my life as a 23 year old with all the freedom in the world to do whatever I want. Revolutionary Road reminded me of all the reasons I love Kate. She far outshines all her costars, handsome Leo included. I hope she gets the Oscar. It would be well deserved.

I want to see this, but think I might need to wait for video if it is a tear-jerker! Her fashion in the movie stills you posted is fantastic. Have a good weekend.

Hi! I just came across your blog while researching my post for today. I am so happy I did. I LOVE IT! I can’t wait to sit down this weekend and scroll through all your old posts! I have not seen this movie yet, but I want to. I agree, Kate is looking great!
PS-I referenced your Lipstick Jungle post today, I loved all the elements you put into the Victory Ford Apartment.

Wow, this movie was a downer (my husband called it a Horror movie! ..NOT a good movie for newlyweds!)… but the set design and costume design was FABULOUS! Not to mention absolutely phenomenal acting. Phenomenal.
I thought that the visual aspects of this film were spectacular, and Kate should have been recognized for her acting here. Wow, it left me speechless.

My husband works on the weekends so I went to this movie alone. Afterwards I had planned to go tot Target but I drove around the parking lot and then drove home. I couldn’t be around all of “those” people.
BUT…I was so in love with Kate Winslet’s fashion in the movie that it was almost a distraction. That blue dress when they are at the neighbor’s house (that you posted) is pretty much the most gorgeous thing I have seen. I used to dress in a rockabilly style, vintage dresses all the time, but never found any so spectacular. I love the current looks you posted, it’s coming back!

I think I want to see this movie just for the fashion and the fact that it has Leo and Kate, two wonderful actors!! I’ll have my husband and dog watch it with me so they can cheer me up. =)

I really want to see this film, but I think I might need to wait until I have my dogs back with me so that they can give me some sloppy kisses afterwards! It was so nice to meet you on Sunday and to be introduced to your beautiful blog– I will be back! xx Courtney

You’re so right about Kate - she’s really matured into a very fine looking woman. I like the periwinkle blue dress she’s wearing on the couch wit Leo best I think!
