Lia Lintern cashmere coats

For those of you who are still braving the cold, you may be interested in the cashmere coats from Lia Lintern. I saw these over on Not Couture and was intrigued by the description of the designer, as she was a former structural aerospace engineer. Julia designed solutions for fixing damaged airplanes during the day then immersed herself in her creative passion at night. While still working at JetBlue Airways, Julia started her first label called Molly Spinach that had a more youthful and funky appeal. Since then her aesthetic has evolved to more sophisticated and complex designs so she recently launched Lia Lintern, which focuses on custom made cashmere and wool coats. The structural look is softened with intricate detailing such as trapunto, a quilting technique that produces raised patterns on the surface, and Italian cording. Also each coat is made to measure. Talk about a figure flattering coat!

I enjoy hearing about people’s backgrounds and what influences led them to where they are today. I have a small story myself as this blog has led me to different avenues, including web design. I’ll share the news in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, I would love to hear your story…

What influenced you to do what you are doing today?
