To be a gentleman

My husband, Jon, loathes the idea of shopping. In fact, I think it has been several years since he last stepped foot in a menswear store to purchase clothes for himself. And that’s where I come in. Once, sometimes twice, a year Jon is open to the idea of updating his wardrobe (usually out of necessity e.g. warm clothes for the winter). At times I am a little overzealous with my choices so thank goodness for the easy exchange policies. He’ll always be handsome to me however I am certainly glad he has shed those baggy jeans.

I admit that I am less experienced when it comes to menswear so my selections are not always perfect. With an unlimited budget and Jon’s willingness to have a very open mind, I would bring Jon to a store like Dunhill and surrender. Disclaimer: Since Jon might see this post….don’t worry, honey, we’re not going :)

Last year Jude Law debuted as the first international face of Dunhill and the brand has re-contracted the British actor for the Spring Summer 2009 collection. I love the photography and the clothes. Can you imagine Cary Grant in the grey pin-striped suit above?

Bourdon House, formerly the London residence of the Duke of Westminster, is now the location of Dunhill’s flagship store. The 2,500 sq ft property boasts a private members club, with a restaurant, games room, four hotel suites, a humidor, and a wine cellar with its own sommelier (via taxi). Interior designer Graham Viney and the rpa:vision team were responsible for transforming the Georgian property to a store with a refined and nostalgic presence. I particularly love the masculinity of the furniture in the bespoke area.

The concept is even carried over to Dunhill’s home in Shanghai

Dunhill is my idea of a gentleman’s haven.
