I’m glad to be back to talk about Project Runway with you. I certainly missed some good episodes while I was in Australia but last night’s runway show was just so-so. The challenge was to create an evening gown inspired by nature — specifically, the plants found at the New York Botanical Garden. And this is what our designers created…

What do you think? Pretty ordinary, in my opinion. If the bustier of Jerell’s dress covered more of the model’s chest, then I would have been much happier. He did deserve to win though, and I’m sure with another work day he could fix the mess. The layers of duchess satin gave his garment more of a sense of luxury.
If Jerell’s dress was a bit of a mess, then the other three designer’s garments were a disaster. Sorry, girls. I know you have much more in you. Leanne’s juxtaposition of the soft flowing charmeuse skirt with the structural detail on top was quite clever but the color was horrendous. A deeper purple would work wonders on this garment. Save Korto’s plunging neckline but toss everything else. The dress did not reflect Korto’s talent in the slightest.
And Kenley, what can I say? The bodice was reminiscent of her Diane von Furstenberg dress but no-where near the same level of class and sophistication. But apparently Kenley’s goal did not include designing an elegant dress, which she clearly stated to Heidi. Despite her attitude, I’m still on the Kenley bandwagon because I think she is a great designer who would put on one heck of a show.

In fact, I hope all four designers get to show at Bryant Park because each has a very distinct style. Who are your picks?

I really think Korto has shownn the most range of all the designers with the best taste level. Kenley’s attitude annoyed me but at least she stands up for her designs, even if they are aren’t that great. I think she needs to learn how to take criticism from people who are there specifically to be a mentor, like Tim. Leanne is way talented but I agree with Michael Kors that her clothes are sad and “lack joy.” Jarell is really a sweetie but I think he might not be as refined in the skills department as the other three and therefore might not get to compete for the title. As always, love your posts on this my dear Kylie!

Last night was definitely a dissapointment all around. I do think Kenley’s dress was by far the weakest. I totally agree if Leanne would have picked a deeper color she would have been much better off. I would honestly like to see all four at the tents. Isn’t Jerrell a Houston boy?

As much as I can’t take another second of her back sassin’, Kenley is still my fave. Getting all snippy with Tim is unforgivable, though. So now I’m torn.

Yes, Jerell is a Houston boy. It would be great if he won because then we’d have Chloe AND Jerell. Have you seen Chloe’s store, Lot 8? Her dresses are beautiful!

Nothing wowed me this week, either. Of the four remaining, I think my fave at this point is Korto, although this week’s dress was disappointing. She usually tells it like it is and gets down to business, and I like that approach as well as respect her obvious talent. Kenley’s attitude has completely turned me off. We saw a little bit of her this week when she talked about having to fight for things all her life, but it comes across as defensiveness and disrespect. I actually felt kind of bad when the terms ’sad’ and ‘lack joy’ were used regarding both Leanne individually and her work. I think her runway collection will show us once and for all what’s she’s really capable of. And Jerrell, I do think of the four designs this week his was the best, although it was kind of a mess and like Heidi, I kept wanting to pull up the bodice! He makes me laugh and I think he’s got talent, but I’m not sure if he has the wow factor needed to pull off the win. This year’s reunion show should be interesting!

I was so angry Kenley wasn’t sent home. I really don’t care how talented someone is…when you come with that kind of attitude…no one will respect you. Especiallys since these people on project runway try to help. People have been sent home for their attitude before and I think she should have been.
And yes, this week was thoroughly disappointing! They could have done sooo much with this project and they didn’t. Im routing for Korto, Jerell and Leanne are the ones Im routing for to make it to “tha tent”!!! But I think if it is those three either Korto or Leanne will win!

I actually loved Leanne’s dress the most except for the splash of color on the back, Its always difficult in the end what to suspect as far as a winner, but I think Leanne has a great shot.
