Who could forget Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in Wizard of Oz (and the Wicked Witch of the West’s cackle — it still haunts me to this day). A little while ago Paloma posted about the Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary event in which nineteen designers were commissioned to recreate Dorothy’s slippers, but with a 21st century look, of course. Now we can see those Swarovski studded shoes as the designs were unveiled yesterday in the windows of SAKS Fifth Avenue. They are on display just in time to launch the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York (see some of the original drawings on La Dolce Vita here).

oh my gosh. i’m not really a fan of ‘fussy’ shoes that have a lot going on but those jimmy choos & l.a.m.b. shoes are FIERCE. i would wear either of them in a heartbeat.
