If Diane von Furstenberg appeared in front of me to announce the challenge, I wouldn’t have cried but I know the nerves would really kick in. Quite the opportunity of a lifetime to design for such a fashion legend! This week our Project Runwayers were challenged by Diane von Furstenberg to design a look for her fall 2008 collection entitled, A Foreign Affair. Imagine Marlene Dietrich escaping from Berlin to Shanghai as a spy in the 1948 film.

Leanne nailed it. Kenley, don’t speak too soon. Although the simplicity of her dress was undeniably sophisticated, she is getting a little overconfident. In fact, she should pass some of her confidence over to softly-spoken Leanne. I’ll give props to Kenley for making great use of 1.5 yards of the most beautiful print and of course I would wear her dress in a heartbeat. But the ruffled tail of Leanne’s crepe de chin movie star gown won me over, minus the bulky jacket.

Joe needs to go home. Sorry dear, but I find your garments too boring (remember the Olympic skort and the drag sailor outfit?). This week Stella was the loser. She totally missed the mark with her flying nun cape but, surprisingly, I’m actually going to miss her refreshing no-nonsense attitude. Another surprise for me was Blayne’s super-cute cropped pants and yellow-pink ascot. I get the modernized 1940s vibe from it, do you?
In case you have $650 to splurge on Leanne’s gown (oh, and don’t forget the Amex — the thousandth plug on this show), hop on over to Diane von Furstenburg’s site. For the rest of us, what did you think of the judges’ decision? Who did you like? Will you miss Stella?

I AM SO HAPPY STELLA IS GONE!!!! It’s been too long!!
I am happy with the judges decision. Leanne has been stepping her game up recently and really sewing some lovely pieces! My girl is still Korto though! I loved her dress too:)
And DVF is my role model. She came and spoke at one of my school’s graduation…unfortunately I wasn’t graduating at that time so I was quite upset! She’s lovely!
And I don’t have 650 dollars…or a place to wear a dress like that! I’d have to go on a real special date!

Leanne has been my favorite since the very beginning of the season. I’m loving this dress!

I love DVF, too. Especially in the AmEx commercial where she begins with “I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew the woman I wanted to be.” I just love that!
I’m confused here, because the print in one of DVF’s dresses in this commercial looks just like what Korto used. Am I crazy?
I agree Joe needs to go. I will actually kind of miss Stella and those striped pants of hers. I give her props for the great attitude she held towards her departure.

This was the best challenge in a really long time! I agree about Kenley getting too confident. Yes, her dress was lovely and wearable, but she kind of played it safe.
Leann’s look was GORGEOUS! I loved the SUBLIME gown and the jacket was pretty fabulous, too. I think she is a strong contender for the final three and she is my personal favorite.
I was actually a little sad to see Stella go. I was surprised she made it this far, talentwise, but I thought she was fun and I liked her attitude. It was kind of refreshing that she was so unaffected. I thought Joe should have gone this time, though. His outfit was BAD. It looked like a cheap costume and his fabric selections were pretty awful.

Jude — I think you might be right about Korto’s print in the commercial. I’ll have to look closer next time. But I love what DVF says throughout it.
Paloma & Alia — I think it’s pretty clear who the top contenders are (Korto, Terri, Kenley, and Leanne) so they should bump a few next week. Joe should have gone home a while ago.

Kylie- I bow down to you. You do the best recaps. I can’t even keep up anymore! I officially wave the white flag and give you sole custody of the PR recap! I kind of thought Korto was robbed on this challenge. Her little jacket was so cute! Also, Kenley is bugging me!!! Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard!

Hi Kylie! I LOVED Leanne’s, I thought it was perfection (however I think she needs a makeover, stat). It is going to weird w/o Stella and her “letha.” Blayne & Suede drive me batty and Joe’s outfit this week was awful! That’s my two cents… thanks for the great recap!
