Talk about an entertaining runway show! I must admit that I wasn’t too excited when I heard about the Project Runway challenge: create an over-the-top drag queen outfit. But when Chris March from Season 4 walked out (I just loved him) and the queens blew kisses, curtsied, and skipped down the runway I was secretly smiling.

Since I don’t have as much of an appreciation for costume design, it was hard for me to form a strong opinion about the outfits. So I’m leaving the discussion to you. Terri’s samurai-inspired garment did tickle my fancy though, because her long sleeves were very dramatic when Acid Betty raised her arms at the end of the runway. Joe’s winning pink cat suit for Varla Jean Merman was boring for me but she was grinning from ear-to-ear, which is probably the most important thing.

Just like the WWE challenge on Season 4, this drag queens challenge weeded out the bad designers. Daniel impressed me at the beginning of the season with his cup dress, but ever since then he has been a little ‘blah’, don’t you think? So no wonder Daniel’s flamenco dress for Annida Greenkard was the loser this week — pretty but not drag enough.
Besides the models on the runway, two other things made me smile. The first was Tim Gunn’s obvious discomfort at critiquing these garments. This challenge seemed a little over his head. Thank goodness he had Chris March to help him because he was lost for words in the work room. The drag queen names also made me grin — Annida Greenkard, Farrah Moans, Sharon Needles, Hedda Lettuce, and Acid Betty were my favorites.
What did you think? Do you have an opinion on costume design and if you had a drag name, what would it be?

Hedda Lettuce! That’s the best drag queen name ever!

so fun! i think korto should have won — that girl looked like a sparkly, well-wrapped gift! I’m with you on the pink thing; I didn’t get it, and it doesn’t look original. And Terri’s was cool too. Also, I think they were harsh on ms. tina turner’s look. I thought it was actually kind of cool. But, thank god Daniel is gone! xo

Derek and I both thought the samurai outfit would land Terri in the bottom 3 - goes to show how much we know about fashion. And, Kylie, you can’t throw the question out there and not answer it yourself - what would your drag queen name be? I’ve got nothing creative, I’m afriad, although it might just have to include the fact that it’s 7:40 and Evie (our 6 month old) is asleep.

You can call me Ruffles. I would wear them from head to toe
Give the little Evester a cuddle for us.
