I’m gathering inspiration for our bedroom (yes, we still haven’t done anything to it) and stumbled across Brown Design (via Carolina Eclectic’s post on their kitchen gem). There are many rooms to love in their portfolio but I paid particular attention to the sleek and chic bedrooms, since that’s the look we’re trying to achieve. Thankfully my husband has fairly modern tastes, but I want to infuse a touch a femininity. A couple of ways that I think Ryan & Joshua Brown’s designs are successful is the introduction of a rain drop light fixture and a hexagonal wall treatment behind the bed. These subtle touches give the rooms personality, while staying true to their uncluttered and sleek approach.
If you would like to view their portfolio, visit the Brown Design site or even get some tips from their new blog. I appreciate the fact that they explain the thought process behind their designs. And if you want to get even more of an insider’s view, watch Flipping Out on Bravo on Tuesday evenings. You may recognize Ryan Brown…

I’ve always loved white bedrooms. In my college dorm i kept the wall-dressing to a minimum and had all white sheets, blankets, pillow cases. you don’t need a ton of color when you just want to drift off to sleep. this room is so great. good luck with your plans.

You are so right, Jessie. I love all white bedding, plus it gives you the ability to change a few accent pieces each season. Paloma (from a Dolce Vita) and I went into a store over the weekend called Indulge. It was full of the most beautiful creams and whites — a wonderfully calming palette.

omg, i love. And I think it’s got just enough dark around the edges that I can get the man to like it too!
