I’m going to start my weekend a couple of hours early this afternoon and head on over to the nursery to pick up our new acoma crape myrtle tree. It’s not officially ours yet — I spotted it last night then hid it deep in the pack so I could come back today to get it (ssshhh). And before we go any further, let’s get one thing clear — I have a brown thumb. But dear acoma, I promise to be good to you.

After reading, “Which garden personality are you?” in Domino magazine this month, I figured out that I’m probably more traditional. It’s funny because my tastes inside the home are quite opposite. Domino suggested a few accessories from Campo de Fiori, so I took a peek at their site and found several weathered planters, hand-carved stone sculptures, copper star lanterns, and gorgeous wooden waxed bowls that could create a traditional look for you (well, the star lantern doesn’t quite fit the mold but it’s too beautiful). I have bookmarked their site and will be back when it’s finally time to tackle our blank backyard.
Enjoy your weekends everyone and I hope you get a chance to spend some time outside. I heard a father on the radio requesting a gift of an entire uninterrupted day pottering around in the garden for Father’s Day. Sounds like a great day — Happy Father’s Day!

i love all of these pieces! and I’m growing a little garden, as well — all edible. I can’t wait for them all to be ripe — tomato, basil, corn, cucumber. ooo, can’t wait. enjoy your weekend, my dear.

Did you get your crepe myrtle planted? I pretty much spent my entire weekend in the yard and the hard work is so worth it. It’s looking so good! Great post . . .
