These light sculptures from Tord Boontje just make me smile. They are so enchanting, delicate, and playful with layers of inspiration drawn from the forms of nature. I could imagine them as a focal piece at a hip bar, over a bed in a little girl’s bedroom, or hung low in the corner of your living room for a touch of the dramatic. When I see designer pieces I’m usually scared off by the price tag but luckily these beauties are actually affordable (midsummer light: $75 and garland light: $65, available at Modern Poverty).
Tord Boontje has many more products and installations up his sleeve, including several Swarovski crystal light fixtures, a winter wonderland installation in Innsbruck, and this furniture and fashion collaboration with Alexander McQueen…

I was reading your post when I saw that you mentioned that this artist did the winter wonderland installation in Innsbruck for Swarovski. How fun that you mentioned this as I saw it last year. I didn’t remember the artist’s name but remembered how beautiful the installation was. Thanks for bringing back some nice memories.
