I stumbled upon the Ascot Lady collection from Ralph Lauren — just in time for the Kentucky Derby this weekend (May 3, 2008). I’ve always loved the idea of wearing oversized hats, but the reality is that they wouldn’t suit me in the slightest. So I’ll wait to see some pictures of the Derby-ers and dream away.
The inspiration for this collection came from the classic Ascot racing scene in My Fair Lady. Since I won’t be making a trip to Louisville this weekend, I may just have to watch Audrey Hepburn instead (any excuse will do). Emily & Lauren from Material Girls wrote a wonderful post about the relationship between Ralph Lauren’s Mayfair home collection, Ascot Lady, and the most stylish icon of all. Now this is a woman who could definitely pull off an oversized hat!
