Organizing ideas from Sköna hem

Guess what I’m going to do on the weekend — spring cleaning! In some weird way I’m actually looking forward to it. This morning I have the windows open, the sun is shining, and the birds are chirping (somewhere) so it has got me in the mood to clean out the closets. I think I’m just as excited as Monica on Friends.

What has given me the extra nudge are the beautiful photographs I found on Sköna hem. This magazine looks a little like a Swedish version of Domino magazine. One day I’ll get my Swedish brother-in-law to translate it for me but for right now I can just admire their beautiful work. And as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words…

Shadow boxes, wire baskets, and plate racks are all great storage solutions. Jon rolls his eyes whenever I bring home a new set of containers or baskets because I’ll often buy these before I know what I’m going to do with them. I must say that my line of 20 photo storage boxes for receipts, stationery, and odd & ends has kept me organized because now I know where to find things based on the label. That was part of my spring cleaning project last year.

Bamboo ladderMy absolute favorite organizing idea is their use of decorative wooden and bamboo ladders as coat racks. Imagine lining a wall in your bedroom with ladders then planning out your outfits for the week. I found these bamboo ladders that just need a coat of paint. Try searching on ebay for a mixture of different heights. Perhaps I’ve found a new project for myself…
