Christian wins Project Runway

Christian wins Project Runway Season 4 (seen with Heidi Klum)This post is dedicated to all of the Project Runway fans who are going through withdrawals only minutes after the season finale aired on Thursday.

What a finale! I loved every minute of it and almost every garment. Superstar Christian was the winner of Project Runway and I couldn’t be happier.

This kid oozes talent but he definitely had some tough competition at Bryant Park. It took me a couple of episodes before I fell in love with Christian’s work. I can’t claim that I had my eye on him from the beginning but by the end I was sold. He definitely brought all of the drama that you expect from a high fashion runway show. Christian’s designs came out strong and just kept knocking us out of the park with all of the haute couture looks. Of course some of them were over the top but not for Victoria Beckham, the celebrity guest judge who has become somewhat of a fashion icon. Can I be next in line to wear one of your dresses, Christian?

Rami came in second and I’m trying to figure out why. Other than his evening gowns, which were to die for, I thought his collection was on the boring side. Bright reds and pinks tend to bleed on tv screens so perhaps I just missed some of the detailing (remember that folks, don’t wear red on tv!). There was a progression in Rami’s collection (see it here) but our room of eight Project Runway fans was quiet during his show.

However we heard “oohs” and “aahs” for just about every one of Jillian’s pieces. Very chic, a tad girly, and 100% wearable. I would buy her clothes tomorrow if they were for sale. And I would even wear her own white dress! I hope an investor scoops up this talented little lady soon so she can start designing ASAP. While her collection wasn’t as cohesive as Rami and Christian’s lines, it was perhaps the most interesting because you didn’t know what Jillian was going to show us next.

All in all, this was a brilliant season of Project Runway. I’m sad, Miss Project Runway Expert, Kelly, is sad, and I bet Alia is feeling about the same. If you find out when the next season starts then please let us know. Until then, Auf Wiedersehen!

I AM SAD!!! I am ready for the next season to begin! I am really happy Christian won!! I loved all the collections, it was hard to figure out who was going to take it. Jillian’s was wearable, but it was just all over….I didn’t see the connection with some of her pieces…but I would contact her to make something for me. Rami’s was lovely…wearable, simple, classy…loved it. Christians was just so creative and had impeccable detail. This guy can sew! He IS way beyond his 21 years! I’m happy for him…and I have to agree with Tim Gunn…these three have been the best final designers in Project Runway! They set the level of work expected next season.

Yep, it was the best finale to date. Plus the challenges this year were much more interesting e.g. Sarah Jessica Parker’s everyday wear, Hershey’s challenge, menswear, and the Met (my favorite!). We’re all going to miss Heidi Klum and Timm Gunn this summer. I wonder if he will bring his show back.
