Project Runway: Rami is “in” the finale

February 27th, 2008 · 8 Comments

I was excited about this episode tonight because our Project Runway judges had to decide who the third designer would be to go to Fashion Week. Was Bryant Park calling Chris or Rami’s name? It was a surprisingly tough decision because both designers showed so much creativity — even more than usual.

Project Runway: Chris's losing collection

Our Project Runwayers selected their top three looks from their collections. Chris described his designs as a spooky goth look of 95% fashion and 5% costume. Hmmmm…I’m thinking more like 60-40. The reason being that I believe fashion should be wearable (at least some of the time) and I can’t imagine anyone buying a garment made out of human hair. Mr. Tim Gunn, I too felt like gagging. Regardless of the hair, I actually loved his garments and hats off to his out-of-the-box way of thinking. Perhaps if I wasn’t clued in about his material choice then I would have liked his garments even more. The halter shirt with the lace motifs was stunning and I could definitely see myself wearing that. Chris was the challenge loser but I think we’ll be hearing his contagious laugh again one day.

Project Runway: Rami's collection that will take him to Fashion Week

So that means Rami is “in”. His inspiration came from Joan of Arc and you can definitely see that in his armour-like and structured coats. Rami’s black gown was a “wow”, showing us a very different look from his Grecian goddess days. My Project Runway obsessed friend, Kelly, loved the black and white swooped dress and believed Rami was definitely going to the finale (she is always right!). I wasn’t so sure but perhaps the judges were looking for something that was more wearable. I honestly would have been happy with either designer.

Only one more week until we find out who is the winner of Project Runway Season 4. You may gasp at my next statement: I’m most excited about Jillian’s collection. I’ve been on the Christian bandwagon since the early days but now I’m very, very curious about what Jillian has in store for us. But we’ll have to wait until next week (or you can look at the final collections here)…
