Sleeping with a good conscience

I would find it hard to believe if you didn’t agree with me that there are few things better than climbing into bed and covering yourself in a mountain of blankets, especially if it’s cold and rainy outside. A few minutes of reading will easily get me into what I dearly call the zone. Perhaps my subconscious will rest well if I lay the night on eco-friendly sheets.

Plover Organic, featured in Elle Magazine this month, has jumped on board the environmental wave to launch a new line of eco-friendly products. Their sheets are made from 100% organic cotton and are free of those harsh dyes and bleaches. So you won’t have to worry about breathing in any toxins as you rest your head on the pillow. Plover Organic’s pastel prints are quite soothing too.

There is actually a whole range of eco-friendly sheets out there, including natural linen, organic cotton, and bamboo sheets. I’m not sure if sleeping on bamboo fibers would be comfortable, but some people refer to them as “butterbility“. Apparently the plant has very fine fibers, and with a high thread count almost any sheet will be soft, right? But Martha Stewart, the queen of the home, says what matters most is that the fibers are long and smooth. So do a quick hand test before spending hundreds of dollars on your next set of sheets.

Or if you want to get the whole body experience, test out the bed in a suite at the Ritz. This bed is fully-decked in natural linens. Luckily eco-friendly sheet sets are quite affordable for all of us. You can even buy them straight from the farm.

I guess the only thing better than climbing into bed is to help the environment…while I’m sleeping…
