It’s Runway time: Hershey’s challenge

January 3rd, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m usually not a big fan of the trash-to-treasure episodes each season on Project Runway, but I must say that I enjoyed this Hershey’s challenge. Maybe it’s because there is a little more talent in the group. After devouring as much chocolate as possible (you’ll soon learn that I have a major sweet-tooth), I certainly couldn’t transform the wrappers into works of art. Yet these Project Runwayers boggled my mind.

Project Runway Episode 6

For starters, Chris really surprised me with his short little number. It’s actually a dress that I could see people wearing. The artist in me loves the Andy Warhol-esque quality. Move over Campbell’s soup

Next up is Christian. I would like him more if he shut his mouth every once in a while but there is no denying that he is an incredible designer. He knows how to keep things simple and sophisticated. The chocolate-colored dress made entirely out of Reese’s wrappers is so textural. And Christian definitely knows how to style his models — check out the hairdo and cuff. This is one designer that we should keep an eye on.

Rami, this season’s favorite, knocked the socks off the judges this round. I often don’t see eye-to-eye on their decisions but this week they clearly made the right choice. With a mix of textures and materials, he somehow draped his dress so perfectly on the model that it actually moved on the runway. Yep, the judges have trained my eyes.

Jillian and ElisaBut with all of the good, we must say good-bye to the bad. That’s our dear, Elisa. Her quirkiness was actually quite endearing (weird at first, yes, but she reeled me in somehow). Sweet P will be right behind her, judging from the past couple of challenges. We wish you luck, Elisa.
