Are we ready for Spring yet?

January 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

After spending three weeks in Europe this holiday season completely covered in a triple layer of clothing, I am ready to shed those layers and wear my spring wardrobe. Be gone are the scarves, hats, gloves, and turtleneck sweaters (well, I’ll have to wear them a little longer but there is no harm in getting my outfits ready, right?) So what can we expect for Spring?

Thanks to Pantone Inc. we have an inside peek of the hot fashion colors of Spring 2008. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, revealed, ”Stabilizing neutrals combined with pops of brighter colors to create unique, distinctive looks are the basis for a great spring and summer wardrobe.” The palette includes a base of Golden Olive, Crossiant, and a cool Pink Mist. Add a vibrant Snorkel Blue, a favorite amongst the designers this season, or a warm, cheerful Freesia.

LUCA LUCA and James Coviello

I was struck by this outfit from LUCA LUCA. Inspired by the blurring of colors on stained glass windows, he created a perfect balance of Spring Crocus paired with a more subdued base in the violet printed silk chiffon top and the crinkled silk organza skirt. Or how about this darling dress from James Coviello. The blend of Snorkel Blue mixed with hints of Freesia are sure to turn some heads.
